POWER GENERATION

 

There are many methods of power generation like (i) Hydel  (ii) Thermal (iii) Nuclear (iv) Solar  (v) Wind  (vi) Tide etc.

But now a days a new technique is used to generate power from Municipality garbage.

In this method the garbage is used as fuel. This fuel is used to heat the water and then the steam produced. With this steam we can rotate the turbine as well as generator.

With 700 tonnes of garbage we may get 210 tonnes of fuel.

In December, 2003 this type of power generation is started at Vijayawada. Through this power plant, they produced nearly 6 MW of power.

Advantages :  We can reduce the garbage in rural and municipal areas thus we can save atmosphere from being polluted.

But we may get doubts that are we able to get enough garbage to produce power? The answer is “YES” because every year so many lakhs of tones of garbage is being produced all over the world.
